Quick Question
I am about to make a ranger. I was wondering if I could get the pros and cons of having a elementalist secondary, and a necromancer secondary. Those are the two secondary's I've been thinking about. (I know other classes go could with ranger, but I have reasons for why I want those, playing style, friends already have them etc.) That is all.

elementalist
___________
pro: some hight damage skills that can buff your arrows along with your own preparations. ele skills are enchants, so they dont cancel your stance + preparation. and bow attak just throws it all on foe
cons: VERY high energy drain!!!!! you will never have enouth energy!!!!
how i like using it:
theres a elite skill barrage. shoots arrows at 6 targers at a time and does +17 dmg (with max marksmanship). i plant a favorable winds spirit (arrows move fast, and do +6 dmg), then i equip my firy bow and use the Conjure flame spell (lasts 60 secs, if you got a fire weapon it does +15(?) fire dmg) GOOD damage
anouther good thing is ward vs melee and armor of earth, but i use them less often.
Necromancer
____________
pro: armor ignoring spikes, skills are reduced in enerdy cost by your expertise attribute, you self heal and spike in same time
cons: ehhh..... cant realy think of any..........
how i use it:
when im blind i surprise the monks with vamp gase, vamp touch etc. theres alot of good bulds for R/N. i also use spinal shievers + cold damage bow= GREAT intrruption for PVE bosses
what i recomend: go with necro. i did and it works great. since from ele you will not need more then 3-4 skills, just buy them after you ascend. but necro skills... ghege sooo many good ones that compliment ranger more then ele skills
but considering a ranger is a pretty self sufficient character, you dont NEED secondary proffession buffs, now i play mostly secondary monk, and all i need is a reusable resurectuion. otherwise rangers are good "on their own"

Thanks for the help. I've done some searching and seen that necro is usually picked between the two because elementist drains all that energy. I'll probably go with necro first and maybe down the line change to elementist at that end game area. I have also seen that rangers are pretty self-sufficient with just their own talents so I'll experiment with that as well. I think this topic is resolved.

With a R/E there is really only one common build that you can use...and it's not really all that great. With an Ele secondary you can deal decent damage, but that doesn't really play into the strengths of being a ranger. With a necro secondary, you'll have alot more options and things to play around with. So if you're only intrested in dealing damage then go /E, but if you want to get the most out of a secondary go /necro or /mesmer.

My friend is going ranger mesmer, thats why I was trying to stick with either ele or necro. Definitely going to go necro now, I've seen positive reviews on it everywhere I go Thanks again to all who posted.
